These materials were previously published across different pages on the Articulate Intelligence website. This combined set allows students to download and refer to the vocabulary exercises, comprehension cloze passages and oral examination resources in one place.

Learning the definition of a word is only the first step. Students must also understand how the word is used naturally and grammatically in a sentence.
This section contains 50 vocabulary sentences featuring useful words and phrasal verbs drawn from different English preliminary examination papers. Each vocabulary item is highlighted, with its meaning provided in brackets.

These examples can help students prepare for the Vocabulary sections in PSLE English Paper 2. They can also show students how to use more precise and varied vocabulary in their composition writing.
The collection also contains vocabulary exercises presented within complete passages.
Learning words through a passage gives students more contextual clues. Instead of looking at a word in isolation, students can examine the surrounding sentences, the subject of the passage and the writer’s intended meaning.
The passages cover a variety of narrative and informational topics, including:
The correct vocabulary is shown together with a suitable meaning for easy reference.
Students can read each passage once without focusing on the highlighted answers. They can then read it again and study how each word fits naturally into its sentence.
Comprehension Cloze can be challenging because students are not simply choosing words based on grammar. They must understand how ideas connect across sentences and paragraphs.
This collection contains 36 reading articles compiled and transcribed from past examination practice materials. The articles cover a wide range of subjects, such as:
Reading these articles helps students become familiar with the vocabulary, sentence structures and general knowledge commonly encountered in Comprehension Cloze passages.
For practice, students can cover the answers and attempt to recall the missing words. More importantly, they should ask themselves why each answer fits the passage.
They can look for clues such as:
This turns the articles into more than an answer sheet. They become useful reading material that students can revisit regularly.
The oral examination section contains eight broad themes compiled from topics recalled by parents and students after the 2026 Primary 6 preliminary oral examinations.
Similar responses were grouped into broader themes, and Articulate Intelligence created practice pictures and questions based on them.

These questions can be used for independent practice or for discussion between a parent and child.
Please note that these are not official examination materials. The themes were compiled from crowdsourced recollections, and the practice pictures and questions were created by Articulate Intelligence. They may not reproduce the original preliminary examination questions exactly, and the eventual PSLE examination may test entirely different topics.

The model answers use varied sentence structures and moderately challenging vocabulary. However, students should not memorise them word for word.
A memorised answer may sound unnatural and might not address the examiner’s exact question. Instead, students should observe how each response is developed and borrow useful structures or expressions that they can adapt to their own experiences.
